My Spiritual Journey

I'd like to share with you something that you might find interesting. There was a point in my life, probably around 1993, that I questioned if pursuing guitar was what I was supposed to do. I prayed to God and asked him if he would speak to me from the Bible and let me know. I got my Bible, opened it randomly, and looked at the first chapter and verse that my eyes were drawn to. (I don't recommend you look for answers this way, but this is what happened) It was Psalms 33, and I started reading. I planned on reading until something made sense in regards to what I was asking for. It reads…" Rejoice in Yahweh; you are righteous! Praise is fitting for the upright. Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings. Sing him a new song. Play skillfully with a shout of joy! "I suppose I got my answer. That brought tears to my eyes, and I knew I was doing what I was supposed to do. About 17 years later, I had a thought pop in my mind. I know that God sometimes hides things until he decides to reveal them. I was thinking about my name. My name, from what I understand, is an old English derivative of the name David which in the Hebrew means "beloved." I thought, what if God has hidden in my name something about me or my purpose. Then I had another idea come to mind. What is my name if I spell it backward? It is "Lyrred." So what? In Psalm 33 it speaks of playing skillfully on a stringed instrument called a Lyre. Also, the very first guitar I had was a red cedar acoustic guitar. My very first electric guitar was red. Could it be that I was born to play guitar? I think so. I think the reason he gave me this gift is so that I could reach others that normally would not give a preacher or an evangelist the time of day. My hope is to not shove religion down people's throats or force them to believe the way I do but share with them something that has given my family, and I hope peace, joy, and happiness. It's like this. If you and your family and friends lived in the wilderness and were dying of thirst and you finally found a freshwater spring with endless amounts of life-giving water, would you not share it with them and tell them about it? Of course, you would.

I believe in Yaweh (YHWH), the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The God of the Holy Scriptures, the Bible, and his only begotten Son Jesus Christ (Y'shua). I believe that God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but had everlasting life.
